President day activities

For president's day we took out some books from the library and learned the role and importance of a president. We also learned about the American flag and it's meaning.

So for our flag activity we looked at our flag, counted how many stripes there were and tried to count all of the stars as well!

We made star cut outs with our paper puncher and glued them on. The girls had a blast. :)

Some activities to do you can find below.

Patriotic Playdough

We decided to make some easy to make play dough using the colors of the American Flag. We had fun making different shapes and even our patriotic cupcake! Yum! Next time we will add more food coloring to make it the actual colors we were planning!

The recipe for this easy (but greasy) play dough is:

4 cups white flour
1 cup water
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp color (mix with liquid)

You can break the recipe down into quarters so you can make more of different colors. The 4 cups makes too much!

Scooping Activity

Today we made up a scooping activity that can involve one or two children. We used different tools to practice with to help the children with their fine motor skills. Kids LOVE to play with water so this had them concentrating and entertained for a while! :)

We used Pom poms and animal shaped beads. An extension to this would be to review colors and animal names as well.
